for Canadians and sliding scale for children (see
below)
DAY TO DAY LIFE AT JAM CAMP
§
Jam Camp creates a
time
and place for individuals, musical groups, and bands to .woodshed. and cover
new musical territory in a serene environment.
§
There are no
scheduled
events except meals.
§
There are no events
scheduled at night, so jamming in many different musical styles takes place
in
a free-flowing manner, with time for that quality nap.
§
Jam Camp attracts
musicians of the highest caliber, so listening and learning while others
play
exciting music is a big plus.
THE SETTING
§
Pilgrim Firs,
located
on the outskirts of Port Orchard, Washington, is a beautiful conference
center
set in the woods surrounding charming Lake Flora. Swimming, canoeing, and hiking the trail around the lake are
.must
dos. while you are at camp. Bedding
is
supplied for those staying in the on-site lodging.
§
Tent camping is
always
an option in the field or in the South Lodge meadow. Be prepared for rain.
§
The wonderful staff
of
Pilgrim Firs will provide 3 well-balanced meals per day and a small nightly
snack.
THE STAFF
§
Facilitators: We are fortunate to have the wonderful musicians Ed Johnson,
Brian Butler and Laurel Bliss joining us this year to provide assistance to
those who may an extra boost to find fun music opportunities at camp. They will also facilitate a vocal warm up
each morning.
§
This
year Suze Marshall and John Foster will share the role of
Child
Care Coordinators. They will provide
a
2-hour activity program in the morning and help facilitate afternoon
activities
with parents and children. They are
looking forward to integrating the kids program into the music community by
facilitating music making with the kids.
Alison Odell will help organize parents for the afternoon
activities.
§ Paula Walters is the year
round Jam Camp Coordinator and the on-site coordinator and Julian Smedley
will
provide on-site registration. Doug
Chandler is our recycling specialist.
Families At
Camp
· Unlike camp for adults, the
children.s experience at camp will include a limited schedule of activities
beginning Monday afternoon. This
gives
parents two designated periods per day to relax and play music while their
children are having their own brand of supervised fun.
· We will using Cabin 11 again this year as .kid central. and will once again be using a designated portion of the play field for activities, allowing adult campers to have their own space without the threat of a ball zooming through when they least expect it.
· There will be a maximum of 18 kids under the age of 16 in camp, including the children of Jam Camp. Priority for registration will be given to families who have come to Jam Camp for 2 or more years until April 10th. After that, sign up is based on a first come, first served basis until we reach .kid capacity.. YOU MUST CONTACT PAULA WALTERS BEFORE SIGNING UP A CHILD FOR JAM CAMP THIS YEAR. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE PARENTS UNDERSTAND OUR GUIDELINES AROUND SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN AT CAMP BEFORE SIGNING UP.
· Activities will include morning
camp
with Suze and John and afternoon activities with the parents, organized by
Alison Odell.
·
Each parent commits to one
two-hour
session of helping out in the program regardless of whether or not
their
child participates in the activities.
· Each family contributes $10.00
towards the cost of supplies and snacks for the week.
· Cost per child is pro-rated based
