According to a usually reliable source, when Bellcore turned into Telcordia
Technologies, the new name was a big secret and a big deal.

So the multitudes were assembled in Piscataway, with huge banners bearing
the (secret) new name folded in half on the walls. As the big moment
arrived, and the name was announced, the banners unfurled, and a huge chunk
of the crowd bursts into laughter. The rest of the crowd turns to see
what's going on, and they too, start howling. Seems one of the carefully
handpainted signs had omitted the L in technologies, so the banner read

	TELCORDIA TECHNOOGIES

The banner was whisked away, and rumor has it that there's an enormous
bidding war.
