As you may know, the three most famous violin-makers of the 17th-18th C.
were the Amati, Guarneri, and Stradivarius families. They all lived in
Cremona, Italy and had adjoining shops.

It is said that the Amati shop had a sign outside the shop which read:
"Best Instruments in All of Italy".
Guarneri, not to be outdone, hung a sign which read:
"Best Instruments in All the World".
Stradivarius had a sign which read:
      "Best Instruments on the Block".
