Subject: Federal Government Needs To Learn From The Military

[Far from being alarming or dismal, I find the following "fact" to be
reassuring. At least the Pentagon can do SOMETHING right. -psl]

[In the March/April issue of] Mother Jones an alarming and dismal fact.

Our U.S. military annually spends $25 Million more on military bands than
the entire budget of the National Endowment for the Arts.

$193 Million dollars is annually spent on "our" military bands, which employ
more than 8000 people.

The Pentagon is, in fact, the largest employer of musicians in the world.

The Air Force's bagpipe unit is based in Georgia.
